Jasmine E. Harris (@Jeharrislaw) is a Professor of Law at the University of Pennsylvania. Her work seeks to address the relationship between law and inequality with a focus on law’s capacity to advance social norms of inclusion in the context of disability. Harris’s interdisciplinary theory of aesthetic-based discrimination, “the aesthetics of disability,” captures the visible and affective dimensions of discrimination that reflect neoliberal ideals of beauty, productivity, and capability. Recent work explores healthcare in the context of social control, especially with respect to race, gender, and disability.
