Duke Law & Political Economy

Duke University School of Law

Duke Law and Political Economy (Duke LPE) offers Duke Law students and faculty the opportunity to build a community dedicated to scholarship, thought, discourse, and action that interrogates the role of law in the creation and maintenance of capitalism. The LPE movement seeks to bridge the artificial disciplinary divide between law, politics, and economics. By showing how legal rules concentrate economic, social, and political power among dominant groups, LPE scholarship inspires new policy solutions, intellectual approaches, and political strategies. Duke LPE will create opportunities for the law school community to participate in LPE’s intellectual work in the form of roundtable discussions, reading groups, scholarly presentations, social gatherings, and opportunities to connect with members of the LPE movement at peer law schools across the globe. Duke LPE will empower Duke Law students to use their legal skills in the service of building a more just, equitable, and sustainable future.
